Song of Samuel: a Memoir
I am old and have enjoyed an interesting life. In 2022 I began writing a memoir. It did not get very far since, just as I was getting to my early political and feminist awakenings/activities, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against Roe v Wade, stripping the right to abortion from women. It was a devastating blow that stopped me in my tracks. Or that’s what I thought. As I was preparing this I realized that perhaps that last bit of writing about the Minotaur was the obstacle. I haven’t been able to continue down that maze. Maybe I will resume one day to describe the good part: the excitement of the social movements and my adventures in garment shops, steel mills, oil refineries, and power plants. For now, I am sharing about the early days, just to document what a strange time it was to grow up in the 1950s.
